About the role

Senior Information System Security Officer

Responsibilities

Implement and enforce information systems security policies, methodologies, and best practices.
Perform Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) management, remediation, and reporting.
Develop, maintain, and update system security documentation, including SSPs and C&A artifacts.
Collaborate closely with the ISSM to uphold the program’s IA posture.
Maintain the operational security posture for assigned information systems.
Conduct security evaluations to ensure systems meet all certification and compliance requirements.
Maintain technical records for workstations, servers, network devices, and security appliances.
Analyze cyber threats and develop strategies for incident detection, reporting, and remediation.
Manage security‑related configuration changes across software, hardware, and firmware.
Support evaluation and deployment of security solutions for multi‑classification environments.
Develop, update, and enforce system‑specific security policies.
Administer user identification and authentication mechanisms for assigned systems.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

10+ years of hands‑on ISSO experience supporting secure system operations in isolated, connected, and standalone environments.
5+ years supporting the preparation and maintenance of SSPs and other security documentation.
5+ years administering tools supporting IAVA management.

Required Skills:

Proven experience with security tools, hardware/software security implementation, encryption technologies, and communication protocols.
Extensive experience evaluating software architectures and systems for compliance with security requirements.
Background implementing and enforcing security policies on large‑scale software or IT programs.
Demonstrated success delivering day‑to‑day security operations for complex systems.
Self‑motivated, solutions‑oriented, and committed to best practices.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field.
12+ years of relevant experience supporting large‑scale software development or integration programs.
DoD 8570 Compliance:
- IAT Level II or higher
- IAM Level II or higher

Compensation

Posted Annualized Salary: $180,000 – $210,000
