TS/SCI w/ PolyAnnapolis Junction, MD· Hybrid· $180k – $225k

Experience required

  • Bachelor's: 8+ years

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. Personnel at this level architect major systems, govern reliability standards, and lead strategic engineering efforts, with a particular focus on Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and zero-trust security models.

  • Platform & Security Architecture: Architecting core components of distributed platforms and delivering target-level zero-trust (ZT) capabilities in cloud environments (GCP).
  • Declarative Infrastructure: Designing and managing infrastructure using Terraform, Helm, and GitOps build/integration pipelines to ensure codebase integrity and a "single source-of-truth."
  • Identity & Access Governance: Developing advanced ICAM (Identity, Credential and Access Management) systems and data transformation modules using Go and Python.
  • Low-Level Reliability Engineering: Leveraging expertise in Windows kernel and system-level programming to address complex reliability issues at the driver, network, and storage layers.
  • Protocol & Resilience Modeling: Applying deep knowledge of OSI network layers (TCP/IP) and encryption protocols (SSL/TLS, RSA/AES) to establish resilient, secure observability and communication patterns.
  • Modernization & Migration: Leading modernization initiatives that transform traditional "click-ops" administration into a software engineering discipline through automation.
  • Cross-Team Leadership: Providing authoritative root-cause assessments for major incidents and mentoring senior/mid-level engineers in Agile/TDD methodologies.
  • Tooling & API Development: Developing platform APIs, reusable infrastructure modules, and internal frameworks (e.g., NIO-based auditing services) to reduce manual toil and variance

education/experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. At least 8 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years at a senior/principal level.

Qualifications

  • Distributed Systems Mastery: Expert knowledge of operational architecture, scalability patterns, and highly scalable asynchronous architectures.
  • Automation Frameworks: Mastery in Terraform, Maven, Artifactory, and CI/CD (Gitlab) for automated infrastructure delivery.
  • Security & Compliance: Strong capability in operational governance, specifically meeting NIST 800-171/172 (CMMC 2/3) and national security-sensitive data requirements.
  • Multi-Language Proficiency: Deep proficiency in C/C++, Go, Java, and Python, with the ability to adopt new frameworks and languages as required by the mission.
  • System Diagnostics: Expert-level debugging and problem determination of application, network, and kernel-level components.
  • Strategic Translation: Skill in translating complex technical concepts—such as RDP bitstream analysis or zero-trust criteria—for leadership and stakeholders.
