About the role
Tensley Consulting is seeking a Level 3 Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support mission-critical IT systems by translating Government requirements into technical solutions across system configuration, deployment, and sustainment activities. The SME provides advanced technical expertise across enterprise IT environments including networking, communications, security, and system architecture. This role works closely with government stakeholders, engineers, and operational teams to analyze system performance, identify emerging technologies, and implement solutions that improve mission operations in complex and high-risk environments. The SME supports end-to-end system lifecycle activities including configuration, testing, deployment, sustainment, and documentation of operational IT systems. This position includes CONUS and OCONUS travel.
education/experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university is required in addition to six (6) years’ experience in collection, processing and distribution technology. Ten (10) years’ experience in collection, processing and distribution technology can be substituted for a bachelor’s degree and six (6) years’ experience.
Qualifications
Six (6) years of demonstrated experience in specialized technical domains, including: Configuring and maintaining enterprise Cisco networking platforms (e.g., ASR routers, Cisco 7600/6500 series, Cisco 3900/3800 routers, Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity) Network monitoring and performance management tools such as Cisco Prime, WhatsUpGold, HPNA, NetCollector, or NetPlanner Specialized technical areas related to networking, security, or enterprise IT systems Experience translating Government technical requirements into project plans and technical solutions Experience supporting enterprise IT systems architecture, networking, telecommunications, or software systems Experience supporting system lifecycle activities including configuration, deployment, testing, and sustainment Experience analyzing system performance and recommending system improvements, optimization, or upgrades Experience identifying technical risks and developing mitigation strategies Experience troubleshooting complex network or system anomalies Experience implementing enterprise networking or security solutions Experience supporting end-to-end configuration, implementation, testing, deployment, and documentation of operational systems Experience analyzing and documenting emerging threats, technical issues, and operational changes Ability to brief technical teams, government stakeholders, and leadership
Desired Skills Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) environments Experience configuring and maintaining enterprise Cisco networking platforms Experience with network monitoring and performance management tools such as Cisco Prime, WhatsUpGold, HPNA, NetCollector, or NetPlanner Experience supporting network dataflow optimization and latency reduction Experience customizing network topologies to support operational mission requirements Experience investigating unauthorized network access or anomalous network activity

Compensation
Posted Annualized Salary: $190,000 – $210,000
