About the role

Tensley Consulting is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support cybersecurity engineering and information assurance activities across secure mission systems and network environments. The ISSE provides technical expertise supporting system security engineering, vulnerability assessments, risk mitigation, and secure architecture implementation across computing environments and classified network infrastructures. This role works closely with system engineers, cybersecurity engineers, ISSOs, and government stakeholders to ensure mission systems are designed, implemented, and maintained in accordance with DoD and Intelligence Community cybersecurity standards. The ISSE supports the full system lifecycle, including security architecture design, system integration, risk management, security assessment, and accreditation activities to ensure mission systems meet government cybersecurity and compliance requirements.

education/experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Seven (7) years of experience supporting Information Systems Security Engineering, cybersecurity engineering, or system security engineering activities on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Four (4) years of additional cybersecurity or information assurance experience may be substituted in place of the degree.

dod 8570 compliance with iasae level ii certification is required.

Qualifications

Experience performing security assessments and vulnerability analysis of computing environments Experience supporting system security engineering or cybersecurity engineering activities Experience supporting secure system architecture design and implementation Experience supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) or system authorization processes Experience supporting information assurance (IA) and cybersecurity control implementation Experience assessing and mitigating system security risks and vulnerabilities Experience supporting secure networking, computing, or enclave environments Experience reviewing or developing security documentation, system security plans, or accreditation artifacts Experience collaborating with system engineers, ISSOs, cybersecurity teams, and government stakeholders Experience supporting system lifecycle activities including design, integration, deployment, and sustainment

Desired Skills Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) environments Experience supporting NIST RMF, DoD RMF, or security authorization processes Experience supporting security engineering across multiple enclaves or classified environments Experience working with cross-domain systems or enterprise cybersecurity architectures Experience supporting cryptographic solutions, authentication technologies, or access control systems Experience using cybersecurity or engineering collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or Microsoft Office Experience supporting Zero Trust architecture or modern cybersecurity frameworks
