About the role

Design, optimize, and deploy heavy-duty data pipelines! Bring your senior Python/Java skills and deep Linux shell scripting expertise to architect data processing workflows and task automation using AWS APIs. You'll master periodic or streaming data while developing highly optimized NoSQL and relational data structures. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of complex data processing workflows and web-based server applications. If you have a deep expertise in Linux systems, a passion for robust data modeling, and the drive to engineer advanced backend solutions that interface with relational databases and AWS infrastructure, let's achieve more together! The annual base salary range for this role is $190,000-$225,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.

Qualifications

  • Software Engineering: 14+ years of general software engineering experience specifically within a Linux environment.
  • Core Languages & Scripting: Strong experience developing software using Python or Java, combined with hands-on Linux shell scripting.
  • Data Modeling & Architecture: Proven experience in data modeling, including data normalization, working with performance metrics, and designing data processing workflows.
  • Server & Relational Databases: Experience developing and maintaining web-based server applications and implementing algorithms that interface with relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Cloud & Automation: Experience developing task automation using the AWS API.
  • Data Structures & Streaming: Experience handling periodic or streaming data, alongside the ability to develop and optimize data structures for storage and retrieval using JSON, YAML, or NoSQL Databases. Education: 14+ years of experience with a technical bachelor's degree, 18+ years of experience without a technical bachelors degree.

Desired Skills

  • Advanced Databases: Experience with unstructured databases (MongoDB, Elasticsearch) and graph databases (Neo4J).
  • Modern DevOps & Pipelines: Experience working with containers, building CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI, and developing pipelines using the AWS API (including Lambda and Step Functions).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Familiarity with IaC methodologies and tooling, including Terraform.
  • Architecture & Front-End: Experience with mono-repo architecture and web page design using JavaScript, Angular, or Python Shiny.
  • Testing & Networks: Experience implementing test environments for automated code validation, and knowledge of network protocols like SNMP or BGP.
  • Team Agility: Ability to thrive and balance long- and short-term tasks in an ambiguous, fast-paced, and highly collaborative team ecosystem.
